My journey is a march of action, learning and accomplishment!
She is a unique model, she puts an early equation and her own description for success. Nothing hinders me. There is no barrier between me and success. Seriousness is not a choice if your goals are not just dreams.
That is the impression Dr. Majida Alazazi is digging in your spirit at lightning speed during the moments of her speech. This is what I saw myself when I met her in Sandstorm Automotive recently, coordinated by my dear colleague Ghada Hamoush.
Majida Alazazi is the title of first in two major subjects. She is the first Emirati to receive an applied doctorate degree in Supply Chain Management and Industry from Emirates University.
She is also the founder of the first manufacturer of 4WD vehicles with world-class specifications in the UAE.
Majida lost her father before completed her third day in life. She grew up in a closed society, but this was not an obstacle to encouraging her family to learn, as do most family girls are educated and have university degrees.
"I was influenced by the family environment that encourages education, but among my close relatives and siblings, I was the boldest! and they called me the 'family boom'.”
During her school time, Majida was featured in mathematics and other scientific subjects, she always remembers Ms. Salwa, her Egyptian mathematics teacher who taught her more than mathematics. So, her university studies were in Engineering of Food Industries.
Dr. Majida studied MBA during her years of work and continued to pursue her doctorate in applied industries.
I was working at that time with a major automotive manufacturing company. In 2011, I was assigned the task of purchasing all components of the automotive industry and overseeing the manufacturing process. I am not a mechanical engineer. Says Majida.
The task was a very big responsibility for me, and I needed to concentrate and think about how to accomplish it. My personal nature helped me to move forward with, as I love to accomplish difficult tasks.
Does that spirit, automatically transiting you from success to success? I asked her.
She replied: "I learned that the path to great success can pass through some failures, challenges and lessons that human learns with. Not to repeat your mistakes!
"I have failed several times in my business projects, and I lost a lot of money because I was taking very high risks in business, so I think my success now comes from try and experience.
My life is a journey of work, learning and achievement, I traveled to many countries, I met engineers, experts and managers from major companies in the automotive sector in the world.
The moment I was sure that I’m ready to launch the Sandstorm Automotive to locally manufacturing 4WD vehicles, I just took the practical steps. I was doing all the tasks, I was the assistant and I was the manager, I hired one person to work with me and then the number increased to 4.
I resigned from the big company I was working in. I had to create my own manufacturers and finish my PhD.
I have worked with designers and developers in UK, Germany, Italy, East Asia and other countries.
Continuing work Contracting and supplying equipment, communicating around the clock with international companies located in remote time zones, I had to wake up repeatedly during the night.
In the end, nothing describes my feelings of gratitude, personal and national pride, when I see the car forming in front of me and that I am the one who worked for each piece and finally here I see it all completed before my eyes.
I was surprised that car manufacturers which I visited in Europe did not take me seriously as a woman or as an Arab looking to enter the automotive industry. I do not forget when someone said to me: You do not have an industry and you do not have a foundation for this industry. Why are you thinking about opening a factory?!
I replied: This is none of your business, what I am asking is to scientifically develop my idea.
He replied, "We will send you the plan as soon as we finish it."
They actually sent me the plan, but with a cost beyond imagination, beyond the capacity of governments, not only my ability as an investor.
I decided not to surrender to obstacles, and I insisted on what I planned for, vehicles Consumption in GCC region in 2016 exceeded 63% of the total world market and it is not fair that we don’t have a local company to take a share of this big market.
Thus, the factory took five years of operation to announce the establishment of Sandstrom Automotive at Dubai Investment Park in 2017.
The actual achievements realized began, In 17th April, 2019 have contracted the construction of a second factory in Rahael area, Abu Dhabi, while we celebrated the opening of the Dubai factory in April 29, 2019.
With shiny eyes Dr. Majida Alzazai said: the most important event was the delivery of the first Emirati 100% four-wheel drive vehicle manufactured in Sandstorm Automotive at 20th of May 2019, which we called Al-Reem.
Her passion for success does not end, she is now establishing the opening of the second car factory, as part of a plan to create five factories.
