Egypt's Trade and Industry Minister Amr Nassar said Egyptian commodity exports to Russia shot up 41% in the first four months in 2018 to stand at $ 284 million against $ 201 million in the same period in 2017.
In a statement on
Thursday, Nassar said efforts will be intensified in the coming period to boost
Egyptian exports to Russia.
Egypt and the Eurasian Economic Union are coordinating to start talks on
the establishment of free trade zone, a step which will give an impetus to
Egyptian exports to the union's member states, especially Russia.
Chairman of the Egyptian Commercial Service Office Ahmed Antar attributed the rise in the Egyptian exports to Russia to an increase in vegetables and fruits exports by 42.5% standing at $ 233.7 million.
Vegetables and Fruits represent about 82% of Egypt's total commodity exports.
