Oman and China inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) within the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt (One Belt One Road Initiative), the 21st century Maritime Silk Road.
The inking ceremony took place on the fringe of talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, who is currently on an official visit to China.
The talks tackled means of enhancing cooperation between Oman and China, especially in the economic, trade and investment scores.
Omani top official also had talks with the Vice-President of the Central Bank
the Executive Director of the China Development Bank, China Banking Regulatory Commission
and China Export and Credit Insurance Company.
The talks addressed means
of furthering financial and investment cooperation among the economic and
financial institutions in both countries.
The Omani-Chinese relations are witnessing a rapid development in various fields. On May 25, the two friendly countries will mark the 40th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between the Sultanate and China.
