China's manufacturing experiment figures high at int'l conf. on manufacturing, sustainable development

China's manufacturing experiment figured high during an International Conference on Manufacturing and Sustainable Development in Cairo.

At the conference, the CEO of the Belt and Road Studies Center said China realized  many achievements, topped by diverting work system in the country to focus on industry.

He also said China has became the world's largest industrial producer, adding that the number of the Chinese workforce in the industrial sector exceeded the rates of any industrial country worldwide.

Concerning the period needed to attain such achievements, the Chinese official said the Chinese experiment took less than 60 years to reap its fruits, noting that Japan took 90 years and the US and Europe took over 140.

The conference is discussing two main axes; the first is reviewing regional and international experiments in the field of manufacturing and the second is the issue of industrial growth in Egypt.

It aims at drawing up a number of policies and mechanisms that could contribute to developing the manufacturing sector in Egypt, while taking into consideration the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision for 2030.

Minister of Planning Hala El-Said opened on Saturday the conference which is held under the patronage of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.

The conference is scheduled to  tackle 12 research papers.

The conference seeks to draw up mechanisms for developing industry in Egypt and benefiting from international industrial expertise in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference falls within the framework of promoting the role of the institute as a scientific and research in developing Egyptian industry.

Japanese, Chinese, Canadian and Swedish experts take part in the conference alongside a number of regional and international organizations, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Labor Organization and African Development Bank.
