Egyptian Minister of Public Enterprise Khaled Badawi had talks on Saturday with a delegation from the Afro-Asian Economic Council on available opportunities for the ministry's affiliated companies to contribute to Madinat Al-Hareer or the Silk City in Kuwait.
The talks also tackled Egyptian companies' participation in an international conference
and fair on the project due to be held in March 2019.
Kuwait has allocated $132 billion to the project, and there are private backers as well. The city is just opposite Kuwait City, and will feature numerous bridges, an expansive sports complex, convention centers, a duty free mall, and a 1,001 meter skyscraper.
Badawi welcomed Egyptian companies' contribution to the project, commending the deeply-rooted Egyptian-Kuwaiti ties.
The talks also tackled means of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the New York-based council.
