Egypt gears up for participating in Dubai Expo 2020

Egypt's Export Development Authority (EDA)  signed a contract on Tuesday on the authority's participation in Dubai Expo 2020 which is due to be held on October 20, 2020 until April 10, 2021.

The EDA CEO Sherine El-Shorbagy signed the contract on Tuesday with Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali,  the Executive Director of the Expo 2020 Bureau.

Under the contract, the EDA will start preparing the 1,000-meter Egyptian pavilion at the exhibition, El-Shorbagy said.

The authority hopes to finalize preparations before the end of 2019 , she said.

The exhibition has three theme pavilions; Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. The Egyptian pavilion will be in the Opportunity Pavilion, El-Shorbagy said.

During the expo, Egyptian companies will hold tete-a-tete talks with representatives for international companies taking parting the event on available opportunities for investment partnerships, she said.

She highlighted the important role of the Egyptian trade office in Dubai in rendering "successful" the Egyptian participation in the event.

The Egyptian pavilion is meant to promote investment in Egypt as investors from all over the world participate in the event.

The expo is expected to attract 25 million visitors.

The expo – under the theme of  "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future" – offers great investment opportunities for all kinds of Egyptian companies; heavyweight ones as well as small and medium sized enterprises, she added.

Meanwhile, Al-Ali underlined full support of the expo's organizing committee for the Egyptian pavilion in order to render Egypt's participation "successful."

He noted that the committee will secure all needed technical support for the Egyptian pavilion.

Dubai's Expo will be a festival of human ingenuity. The engines of growth are no longer steam-powered. Instead, collaboration and partnership have taken its place, becoming the driving force behind new developments. The Expo will showcase and explore what is possible when new ideas and people connect.
