The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), organisers of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2018) has announced opening the doors of the festival, from 4pm-8pm on Monday exclusively for women, and children under the age of 16.
The organisers will be offering women and children a special space within which to enjoy books, culture and the myriad literary and entertainment activities that are being offered at the 10th edition of SCRF, and encourage them to bond with each other and mix with their peers over their fondness for books, art, music, food and culture.
The festival will be welcoming everyone from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm tomorrow, after which the gates will close and change over dawn on its exclusive avatar for women and children for the rest of the day.
From Tuesday onwards, that is April 24 and until the end of the festival on Saturday, April 28, the reading festival will resume its regular hours for all visitors who wish to come and spend time surrounded by books, reading, cultural events, theater shows, cookery competitions, and lots more.
The festival is a cultural celebration attracting not only children, but extending the joy of learning to parents and adults in a family- friendly atmosphere. SCRF encourages learning and self-education from a young age, helping raise a generation of leaders, scholars and professionals who will contribute to the development of their society.
SCRF is held annually under the directives of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the patronage of Sheikha Jawaher Bint Muhammad Al-Qasimi.
