DISCOP film, television, online content, and adaptation rights market will be held in Egypt's Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh on February 26 through 28, 2019 with Saudi Arabia as the official Guest Country.
The announcement - made during DISCOP Dubai - reflected the growing business links between the Middle East, the Sub-Continent, and Africa.
DISCOP CEO Patrick Zuchowicki said Egypt with its dynamic industry and 100-million population will help strengthen the presence of DISCOP in Africa.
DISCOP Dubai hosted India as this year’s Guest Country and more than 50 delegates representing in excess of 30 entertainment and media companies from India attended the market.
Alongside DISCOP Dubai, three other DISCOP markets will take place in 2018 in Abidjan on May 29-31, Zanzibar on July 11-13, and Johannesburg on November 14-16. They are expected to welcome 3,500 delegates from 130 countries shaping the new frontiers of entertainment content production and distribution business.
Two additional markets will be added in 2019: one in Lagos with a focus on Nigeria on May1-3 and one in Mumbai, with a focus on the Indian Sub-Continent with dates to be announced at a later stage.
In 2017, three DISCOP markets were held in Dubai, Abidjan and Johannesburg with collective participation of 2,500 delegates representing 1,500 entertainment and media companies from 110 countries.
