As part of its global mission, Al Qasimia University in
Sharjah, organized the third edition of the “Al Qasimia Festival of Cultures” with
participation of about 70 nationalities from the University students, some
communities and embassies representatives in a joyful Carnival celebration in
which students from different nationalities demonstrated their cultures, traditional
music, dances and colors of food.
The festival was attended by HE Sheikh Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director of the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah and the sponsor of the festival, as well as Professor Rashad Salem, the university's director and a group of professors, guests and students.
Dr. Rashad Salem said to E Business Review that the festival is fully in line with the mission of the university and its founding philosophy, which was formulated by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah of diversity and understanding of civilization.
He added that the festival is a symbol for activating the concepts of Islamic unity, brotherhood and humanity among the students of different nations, with different customs, traditions and intellectual and social roots.
Pointing to the Deanship of Student Affairs at the university decision, that the festival carries the slogan "Zayed, in the world’s hearts ", in conjunction with the Year of Zayed.
Dr. Rashad added: The university's keenness to organize the annual cultural festival aims at fulfilling its mission in carrying out activities that meet students’ aspirations and needs, as well it supports their academic path. Highlighting the unique status of local and regional diversity and cultural exchange, so we are keen to enhance interaction and communication between students and their colleagues to learn about others traditions and values, enrich their culture and knowledge of other civilizations, and open doors to them New to build long lasting friendships.
Ahlam bin Jarash, the assistant of university director for student affairs, explained that each of the community, besides its history and culture, focused on highlighting Sheikh Zayed's efforts to consolidate relations with their country through projects, Charity and humanity, pointing out that the festival held a special corner for the UAE, being a hospitable country, which included all the nationalities on its land, tolerance its elite Islamic ethics, as well as its leaders and people.
