About LE 100 million is allocated for the first stage of developing the technology used by Egypt's State Information Service (SIS) and launching a multi-lingual SIS portal, Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser El Qady said in statements.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed on Thursday a two-year cooperation protocol with the SIS in this regard.
El Qady said the multi-lingual portal - to be one the top notch portals worldwide - will help communicating with both Egyptians and foreigners.
Under the protocol, the SIS's foreign reporters center will be upgraded to be on lockstep of international ones in addition to overhauling the SIS's archiving system, he said.
SIS Chairman Diyaa Rashwan lauded the efforts exerted by the Ministry Telecommunications and Information Technology to develop state institutions, especially the SIS which plays a vital role in quashing any rumors targeting the state.
Established in 1954, the SIS is the nation's main informational, awareness and public relations agency.
