Nasdaq Dubai featured AWAKEN trailer on Nasdaq Tower screen in Times Square, New York

The 3-minute trailer of the upcoming groundbreaking movie was  broadcasted on Monday, 17 July

Nasdaq Dubai featured the trailer of AWAKEN, the new feature documentary movie directed by acclaimed cinematographer and time lapse pioneer Tom Lowe, on the Nasdaq Tower screen in Times Square, New York.

The AWAKEN trailer ran on the Nasdaq screen between 4:30 and 5:00 PM UAE time / 8:30 and 9:00 AM New York time on Monday, 17 July. The broadcast can be viewed live on http://www.nasdaqdubai.com/live/awaken

Nasdaq Dubai has undertaken this initiative in collaboration with Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) and Dubai Film. AWAKEN made its global trailer debut earlier this week.

The movie was produced by Dubai Film, one of the largest film production companies in the Middle East, and executive produced by Academy Award Nominee Terrence Malick and documentary filmmaking trailblazer Godfrey Reggio. AWAKEN features “Outro”, a song by popular French electronic music artist M83.

Shot over a five-year period in more than 30 countries, the film explores humanity's relationship with technology and the natural world. The movie is a celebration of the spirit of life, an exploration of the Earth, and an ode to the Cosmos.

As the region’s film hub, Dubai provided the ideal base to produce the groundbreaking film. Director Tom Lowe and his company Dreamcore set up operations in Dubai in 2012 and worked closely with Dubai Film to conceive and build several pieces of custom camera equipment, creating entirely new categories of filming techniques.

AWAKEN expands the technological, artistic and geographical boundaries of documentary movie making.  The film pioneers new time-lapse, time-dilation, underwater, and aerial cinematography techniques to give audiences new eyes with which to see our world.

The movie depicts the natural world in a way that competes with large visual-effects-heavy blockbusters, while at the same time capturing everything ‘in camera’, with no effects, compositing, or post-production tricks.
